Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a GP Referral?
No, I accept self-referrals by phone call or email. You can use the enquiry form on the contact page to get started.
Do you accept Mental Health Care Plans?
Unfortunately Medicare, who provide the rebate for these plans, do not include Counselling as an eligible service.
What qualifications do you have?
I am a level 4 registered counsellor with Australian Counselling Association.
I have a Master in Counselling and a Bachelor (Arts) in Psychology and Counselling
How many sessions are needed?
This varies depending on your support needs and how you engage with each session.
I will work with you at your pace and I do not try to hurry the process as the time it takes to be ready to heal through something varies for everybody.
We will work collaboratively towards closure of support when the time feels right.
Do I need to prepare for sessions?
Whilst there is no exact preparation needs or requirements to attend sessions, it is important that you attend your session feeling present and comfortable.
Wear your comfy clothing if possible, turn your phone off to limit distractions, and if you feel it will help – bring along any discussion points either written in your phone or in a notebook.
For parents, please ensure your child has recently eaten and been to the toilet prior to session so that they are fully comfortable and ready to engage in the session.
What will you tell me about my child’s session?
To ensure your child feels comfortable, safe, and in control of what they share with me when attending sessions I will not discuss full details of session with you to
maintain your child’s confidentiality.
Information regarding themes occurring, observations of progress or engagement or any significant concerns will be discussed via phone call at a time separate to your child’s session.
Do I need to stay while my child is in session?
For older children it is ok if you wanted to run some errands and return towards the end of their session time.
For younger children, is important that you stay in the waiting area so that they know that you are nearby should they need you for any reason.
